Every gallon of standing water removed mechanically is a gallon that does not have to be evaporated, and evaporation is the slow, expensive part of drying. More importantly, materials degrade on a clock. Drywall wicks, hardwood cups, laminate delaminates, and clean Category one water begins converting to Category two within roughly 24 to 48 hours as it contacts soil and building materials. Fast, aggressive extraction is the single highest-leverage action in any water loss.
We deploy truck-mounted and portable extraction units, submersible pumps for deep standing water, and weighted extraction tools that compress carpet and pad to pull water from the backing and the substrate beneath. Extraction is performed in overlapping passes until the recovery rate drops off, then repeated after the material relaxes. Where the pad is unsalvageable it is removed rather than chased, and where hardwood, tile or multi-layer assemblies trap water beneath the surface, we use specialty mat systems and negative pressure to pull water out of the assembly rather than through it.
Extraction is preceded by source control, shutting off the supply, capping the line or coordinating with a plumber, because drying a building that is still taking on water accomplishes nothing. We also address safety hazards including electrical, slip and structural risks before crews work in standing water. Once extraction is complete, the drying chamber is engineered and equipment is set the same visit, so the building begins drying within hours rather than days.
