Fire, prolonged water saturation, impact and soil movement can compromise load-bearing capacity in framing, joists, beams and slabs. Once that happens, no restoration work should proceed until the structure is stabilized. Temporary shoring carries the load safely while damaged members are removed and replaced, protecting crews, occupants, adjacent structures and the remaining undamaged portions of the building.
Shoring is designed to the actual load path, not improvised. Depending on the condition we install adjustable steel post shores, engineered shoring frames, timber needle beams, wall bracing and floor jacks bearing on adequate sole plates and load-distributing pads. Where the condition or the span requires it, the shoring design is reviewed and stamped by a licensed structural engineer, and installation is coordinated with the demolition and reconstruction sequence so support is never removed before permanent framing is in place.
Shored areas are monitored for movement, settlement and deflection throughout the project, and shoring is adjusted as loads change during demolition and rebuild. Removal happens only after permanent structural repairs are complete and inspected. You receive the shoring plan, engineering documentation where applicable, installation photographs and a record of monitoring for your project and permit file.
