The measure of a professional restoration project is what the rest of the building looks like when it is finished. Demolition, remediation and drying generate dust, spores, particulate and odor that will migrate into unaffected rooms through open air paths, the HVAC system and pressure differentials unless they are deliberately contained. Site protection is what allows a family to keep living in the house, or a business to keep operating, while the work goes on.
We isolate the work area with sealed polyethylene barriers, zippered entries and decontamination chambers where required, and hold it under negative pressure with HEPA-filtered air scrubbers so air flows into the containment and never out of it. HVAC supply and return in the affected zone are isolated and sealed to prevent system-wide distribution. Outside the containment we protect travel paths and staging areas with floor and stair covering, corner and wall guards, and covering for fixtures, cabinetry, countertops and contents that stay in place.
Containment integrity and negative pressure are checked daily, not set once and forgotten, and barriers are adjusted as the work zone changes. Debris is bagged and removed through the containment rather than carried through clean space. At completion, protection is removed, travel paths and staging areas are detail cleaned, and the unaffected portion of the property is returned in the condition it was in when we arrived.
