Hydroxyl Treatment

Safe oxidation for occupied spaces
Deodorization Without Evacuating the Building

Hydroxyl generators use ultraviolet light to produce hydroxyl radicals, the same oxidizing molecules that break down odors and airborne contaminants in the outdoor atmosphere. Unlike ozone, hydroxyl treatment is safe to run in occupied spaces around people, pets and plants, which makes it the practical choice for homes that cannot be vacated, occupied commercial buildings, healthcare and senior living, and losses affecting only part of a property.

How We Deploy It

Hydroxyl works by continuous contact, so equipment placement, run time and air circulation determine results. We size the number of units to the affected cubic footage, position them to move treated air through the entire space including closets, cavities and adjacent rooms, and pair them with air movers and HEPA filtration so odor-bearing particulate is captured while gaseous odor is oxidized. Treatment typically runs continuously over several days, and progress is evaluated rather than assumed. Because hydroxyl radicals are gentler than ozone, they do not damage rubber, artwork, electronics, leather or textiles.

Applications and Verification

We use hydroxyl treatment for smoke and fire odor, sewage and biohazard residual odor, mold and mildew odor, pet and animal contamination, decomposition, and general indoor air quality remediation. It is deployed alongside source removal and cleaning, never in place of them. Results are confirmed by closing the space, allowing it to warm and re-entering, and treatment continues until the space passes that check.
