Insulation is porous, and once it has been wet, contaminated by sewage, saturated with smoke residue, or fouled by rodent or bat activity, it cannot be cleaned in place and it will not dry to a safe condition. Compressed, settled or displaced insulation also stops performing thermally long before it looks like a problem. Restotech removes compromised insulation completely and replaces it with a correctly specified, correctly installed assembly.
Removal is performed under containment with negative air pressure and HEPA filtration so fibers, dust and contaminants do not migrate into occupied space. Batt, blown-in cellulose and fiberglass, and damaged foam are bagged at the source and disposed of properly. With the cavity open we inspect and correct what is normally hidden: framing condition, moisture staining, active leaks, wiring, ventilation baffles, air sealing gaps and vapor barrier integrity. Replacement insulation is installed to the specified R-value with proper coverage, depth and clearance.
Correctly installed insulation paired with proper air sealing and ventilation restores thermal performance, evens out temperature between rooms and floors, reduces HVAC runtime and cost, and removes the moisture and odor reservoir the old material had become. You receive documentation of the material removed, the R-value and product installed, coverage depth and photographs of the completed assembly.
