When a roof is damaged but the deck is still largely intact, a properly installed tarp is the fastest way to stop water from entering while permanent repairs are scoped, approved and scheduled. Done correctly it holds through wind and rain for weeks. Done poorly, it channels water into the building and makes the loss worse, which is why installation method matters more than the tarp itself.

Edges are wrapped and secured to furring strips or battens and mechanically fastened into sound decking, with fasteners sealed and lapped so the protection itself does not create new leak points. Tarps are tensioned to prevent ponding and flapping, the two conditions that destroy a temporary cover. Debris is removed and drainage paths are cleared before installation.
Installed tarps are inspected after significant weather events and re-secured or replaced as needed until permanent roofing is complete. Every installation is documented with photographs, measurements and a written scope for your claim, since emergency roof covering is a standard covered mitigation cost.
